At Compass Point we know that trying out a new church can be intimidating so we set up this page to give you a glimpse of what to expect when you visit us.  Below you will find information about our church, our services, and other details you might find helpful. Please know that we will make every effort to ensure that your first experience at Compass Point is worry free.

When you walk through the front doors of the North Lakeland YMCA you’ll be met by friendly volunteers ready to serve you or answer any questions you might have. Clearly marked signs will help guide you to the worship area, kids registration or restrooms. Take a moment to drop by the Compass Point Cafe and grab a free cup of Starbucks coffee. Sit wherever you feel comfortable in the Sunday service and don’t worry about anyone making you stand up, raise your hand or say your name. You will be able remain anonymous until you decide not to be. Oh yeah, we don't have a dress code, so feel free to wear jeans, shorts, flip flops or whatever you are comfortable in.  God doesn't care about appearances so why should we?

Every week at Compass Point we work hard to provide an exciting experience where you can connect with God. The band kicks off the service with a couple of pretty high-energy rockin’ songs that you will enjoy. Their passion for God is pretty contagious and the music is kind of loud. The words to the music and any Scripture used during the service will be on the video screens for you to follow. Our Senior Pastor, Chris Elrod has a preaching style that is easy to understand and he always gives practical Biblical wisdom that can be applied to daily life. He used to be a nationally-touring comedian, so don’t be surprised if the sermon only last 30 minutes and has some really funny moments in it! We promise you that a Sunday service at Compass Point is anything but boring.

Every Sunday we work hard to make Compass Point Kids a fun, exciting and interactive experience for children to learn about the Bible. We believe that children deserve our best so caring volunteers will make sure every child feels welcomed and is connecting to other students. Our goal is to make Compass Point Kids the best 60 minutes of your child’s day! Leaving your children with a stranger can be tough, that is why we have made every effort to create a safe and comfortable environment for kids at Compass Point. Our best leaders are helping with the children’s ministry so you can focus on having a great experience in the Sunday service. Our volunteers have gone through complete background checks and they have been trained in the latest safety procedures. When you sign-in your child at the Kids Registration desk, you will receive a wristband with a number on it. Should we need your assistance, we will put your number on the video screen in the worship area.

While middle school and high school students participate in the regular Sunday service at Compass Point, they have their own special time of Bible study and fun activities every Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m.  Because we do not have a permanent meeting space the Compass Point Student Ministry meets at a different location in North Lakeland each week.  For more information or for this week’s meeting location, go back to the menu and use the "Email' link.
