Why is financial giving so important?
At Compass Point Church, we believe that everything in the universe belongs to God, including our selves, our time, and our money We also believe that we are to be good stewards with the blessings that God gives us. Throughout the Bible, we are reminded of the importance of giving back a portion of what God has so generously given us. In Matthew 6:21 Jesus says, "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also...” Since the way in which we spend and invest our money is a "leading spiritual indicator" of the condition of our hearts, we include an "Tithes & Offering" segment in Compass Point’s Sunday services as an act of worship to declare that Jesus is our greatest treasure, and that extending His kingdom to others is our greatest desire. We believe that giving is a privilege and that by partnering our financial resources together as a local church, God's work is done more effectively.

What is the difference between tithe and offering?
The word ‘tithe’ means "tenth" or 10 percent. Leviticus 27:30 says, "A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the LORD; it is holy to the LORD." While people no longer use grain, fruit or meat as currency in the 21st Century tithing as set forth in Scripture still applies to us today. At Compass Point we see tithing as giving 10% of what God gives us financially back to Him. Any amount above 10% is considered an offering to God. Our offerings are over and above our normal tithes and should be done with joy.

What are the methods for financial giving at Compass Point?
Financial contributions to Compass Point Church can occur in several different ways:

  • By placing our a personal check in the offering baskets during the Sunday services.
  • By using a Compass Point envelope to contribute cash in the offering baskets during the Sunday services.
  • By mailing a financial contribution in to the Compass Point office.
  • By giving online through by clicking here.

Please know that the online giving does not make a distinction regarding a debit card or a credit card. We do strongly suggest that no one use a credit card unless it is paid off every month. The Bible speaks in Proverbs 22:7 about "…the borrower [being] servant to the lender." We do not wish our congregation to go into debt by tithing on a credit card.
